The CAPRCA will be welcoming Ketch Weaver to this year's rodeo on March 29th and 30th, 2024. Ketch is a working cowboy, actor, and trick roper. He also competes in ranch rodeos and is the father of two and one more on the way. The pre show with local entertainment will start at 6pm. Mutton bustin for 6 and under at 6:30pm. Are you ready to explore the hidden treasures of nature? Curious about the elusive Morel mushrooms and where to find them? Then mark your calendars for a hands-on Morel hunting workshop with expert Jay Pitts!

In this immersive 2-hour workshop, Jay will guide you through the secrets of identifying Morel habitat, sharing his knowledge and expertise gained over years of exploration. From understanding the ideal conditions for Morel growth to honing your skills in spotting these delectable fungi, this workshop will be both educational and fun!

The workshop will NOT involve picking mushrooms, as it is in protected AR Natural Heritage property. Plan to attend rain or shine and bring wet weather gear if needed.

About the instructor:

Jay Pitts is a sixth generation native Arkansan who lives in the Ozark mountains and specializes in foraging edible mushrooms year round. He's an Arkansas Master Naturalist and a member of the Arkansas Mycological Society, the Missouri Mycological Society, and the North American Mycological Association. Jay has been picking morels since the 1980's in Madison county, and he teaches an introduction to fungi class for the Arkansas Master Naturalists.
